Goodbye Senator Kennedy: Thank You

by Walter Allen Bennett, Jr. on August 25, 2009

Senator Edward Kennedy

Senator Edward Kennedy

Edward Moore “Ted” Kennedy (February 22, 1932 – August 26, 2009) [2] was the senior United States Senator from Massachusetts and a member of the Democratic Party. In office since November 1962, Kennedy was in his eighth full (and ninth overall) term in the Senate. At the time of his death, he was the second most senior member of the Senate, after Robert Byrd of West Virginia, and the third-longest-serving senator of all time. For many years the most prominent living member of the Kennedy family, he was the youngest brother of President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert F. Kennedy, both victims of assassinations, and the father of Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy.

The Conservative Right Has A Glass Jaw

by Walter Allen Bennett, Jr. on May 4, 2009

The Left Swings A Hard Right

The Left Swings A Hard Right

After years of dealing with the Conservative Right’s unbiased commentary vacuum, via let you decide for yourself news; aka, Fox,  The Drudge Report, Hannity and Colmes (mostly Hannity),  Bill the “No Spin Zone” O’Rielly, Rush “Boss Tweed” Limbaugh and others, the truth has come out about their chin. It’s made of glass. That’s right, the GOP and right wing media may dance around the political ring, but like Ricky Hatton in the second round of a Manny Pacquiao fight, they are now staggered by the rise of their own ring tactics being used against them by the new liberal and left to center media trends.

It was so easy when Fox News did not have to deal with MSNBC or Hannity, Limbaugh and O’Rielly had no Olberman, Jon Stewart, Colbert, Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow, and Drudge no Daily KOS, Huffington Post to truly illuminate what they were saying about America. Now that they do, not even their infamous and capable fight corner can change their spiraling course between rounds. Their corner cut man Karl Rove no longer stops bleeding but creates hemorrhaging with comments like “Obama is the most polarizing figure in America”, despite there being only 13 percent of Americans that agree with him. Fox News spent all of tax day 2009 “Tea Bagging” (I could make jokes, but they’ve been done). To add to this, GOP Senators called a much ballyhooed press conference where they proceeded to distribute pretty blue report folders that contained a budget that had no numbers. Then there’s the Don King of all political media, Rush Limbaugh, who after Arlen Specter came out of the cold and defected to the Democratic side, said he should take McCain with him and his daughter too. Wait, wasn’t McCain the Republican Candidate for President just a mere six months ago?
