Hillary Clinton

Goodbye Senator Kennedy: Thank You

by Walter Allen Bennett, Jr. on August 25, 2009

Senator Edward Kennedy

Senator Edward Kennedy

Edward Moore “Ted” Kennedy (February 22, 1932 – August 26, 2009) [2] was the senior United States Senator from Massachusetts and a member of the Democratic Party. In office since November 1962, Kennedy was in his eighth full (and ninth overall) term in the Senate. At the time of his death, he was the second most senior member of the Senate, after Robert Byrd of West Virginia, and the third-longest-serving senator of all time. For many years the most prominent living member of the Kennedy family, he was the youngest brother of President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert F. Kennedy, both victims of assassinations, and the father of Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy.

Obama-white-house-webpage

This was originally posted on August 21, 2009, early during the Health Care Debate. As I look back, only #2 and #7 needs tweaking. To think it took an offer of an “Executive Order” to get to this place.

Hey, FOX NEWS: Here’s the score…. Obama 2  Fox News 0   on the big ones.

Fox News against Obama becoming President – Not

Fox News against Obama and Health Care – Not      Still don’t believe you’re on the fringe?

Back in November 2008 the United States elected a new President who was young, relatively fresh to Washington and politics as a whole and whom many classified as a long shot to win the presidency or even the Democratic Primary against Washington political heavyweights such as Hillary Clinton. Yet, he won. Prior to the White House run, he also won in Illinois State elections when he was virtually unknown. His coolness in both situations solidified what some said about him, “No Drama Obama” and when things miraculously went his way classified it as the “Obama Effect”. No more were these descriptions of President Obama on display than during the heat of the general election when political veteran John McCain wanted to suspend his campaign to deal with the financial crisis while candidate Obama stated that Presidents must be able to multi-task large issues. When Obama eventually won the election, those in hindsight said, “who knew?”. Now comes the move to pass the most monumental legislation in the history of the United States, Health Care. There is plenty of drama about health care reform floating around in town meetings, the press and among politicians, but once again, not from Obama. What does President Obama understand, that the GOP and the press do not?

Steele In Serious Hot Water With Social Conservatives

by Walter Allen Bennett, Jr. on March 12, 2009

s STEELE large Steele In Serious Hot Water With Social Conservatives
“Michael Steele’s statement of support for an “individual choice” on abortion has provoked deep concern among social conservatives and spurred further speculation that his tenure at the RNC will be brief.”

It is abundantly clear that Michael Steele was a knee jerk reaction to the election of Barack Obama, just as the selection of Sarah Palin as John McCain’s running mate was an effort to attract those women who supported Hillary Clinton. In both instances these are ill conceived strategies. The GOP should have learned their lesson from the ’08 election debacle, but their leadership choices are not rooted in ideology, but rather in reaction to what the Democrats are doing and what appears to counter them. They are still resistant to adjusting to the public sentiment of how dissatisfied everyday America is with recent past leadership and policies. So they turn to Michael Steele who is closer to a “Right Wing” Democrat or Independent, than to their Conservative base. So… their leadership is as their leadership does, struggling to find a voice.

WHEN THE SHOE DROPPED SO DID ISRAEL’S HAMMER: THE END IS NEAR

by Walter Allen Bennett, Jr. on January 17, 2009

gaza explodes WHEN THE SHOE DROPPED SO DID ISRAELS HAMMER: THE END IS NEAR

ISRAELI BOMBS HAMMER GAZA

It is time to speak the obvious unspoken truth when it comes to the timing of Israel’s hammering attack on Gaza and Hamas. It was calculated and coordinated with the waning days and eventual exit of an unpopular President of the United States of America. No, coordinated does not mean it was done in concert with the US, it means that President Bush could take the hit. It means, that if the Israeli government wanted to hit Gaza and Hamas, they could not risk doing so under the watch of a popular President Obama and his pro-Israel Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton and risk even their mild criticism for a military undertaking that is now being questioned for its intensity and duration. It means, that once the civilian Palestinian casualties began to out weigh Israel’s purposes, a President Obama would certainly have to stand for the change that swept him into office and demand diplomacy. If Israel waited, this call for diplomacy, of course, would happen far before they would be able to accomplish it’s pounding goal on Hamas. One of these goals being a brutal lesson; for every one rocket you fire we will match with one hundred bombs. Justified or not,  it is a lesson that could only be detonated while the sitting President’s approval numbers could go no lower if he took no action.
