The Heir To Tim Russert is…

Not often does a voice come along in television journalism that gives one the occasion to actually pause and think, more than Tim Russert’s. His dedication to cutting to the chase every Sunday morning on, “Meet the Press”, with those the citizens of the United States and the world placed their trust in, has been invaluable to how America reflects upon itself. This historic Presidential election will sorely miss his insight and beg other networks and journalists a hallow question, “Who will rise to the level of Mr. Russert’s political discourse, without ego and self importance?” Who will emerge from the pack of “What’s Hot” reporting to bring insight to news cycles rather than a steady diet of gotcha analysis and partisan coverage masked as fair and balanced. As the candidate’s respective camps prepare to go to the mattress, there should be a subtle but real anxiety that without an impartial voice that goes to the heart of what is truly at stake this election, that it will never be heard. We will miss you Mr. Russert, but let us hope the insight that your legacy has inspired in television journalism will find a true and humble heir.
